Banff National Park is Canada's oldest national park, established in 1885. It is located in the Rocky Mountains, about 110kms or 80 miles west of Calgary, and it covers about 6,641 square kilometres (2,564 sq mi).

The park contains many amazing mountains and trails, lakes like Lake Louise, coniferous forests and alpine meadows. In a normal year Banff National Park and the Banff town site will see millions of year round visitors. In the spring, summer and fall they come for hiking, camping, canoeing and climbing, and in winter, they arrive for winter sports like skiing and snowboarding.
